Hi Visitor,

Just Educating Workers About Their Immigration Rights, Right? United Farm Workers Will Be Sending Folks Into The Fields

 By: Glen A. Williams

The following bulletin is being circulated in California, Oregon, and Washington by the United Farm Workers of America (UFW):

Counsel to Management:

Immigration is currently one of the biggest political hot-button issues, and changes in the law are inspiring significant fear and concern in the workforce.  Whether the message is in the form of a bulletin from the UFW, an executive order from the President, or a memorandum from the Department of Homeland Security, publications like these are pouring fuel on the fire.

Employers should build trust with their employees by continuing to clearly communicate with their employees about immigration policies and stressing that employers will defend their company’s I-9 process and thus their employees.  Employers should also be on watch for unions like the UFW seeking access to their workplaces under the guise of educating workers about immigration.  You can find the Saqui Law Group’s Cheat Sheet on Access in English HERE and in Spanish HERE.
